50 companies to participate in tender for 21 oil and gas blocks

Around 50 oil and gas companies have expressed interest to participate in a tender for some 21 oil and gas blocks to operate under a production sharing basis, Bisnis Indonesia newspaper reported in its Tuesday edition.
The tender will be closed on September 30, 2004. This information was disclosed by director general of oil and gas Iin Arifin Takhyan.
Iin said most of the contractors, both local as well as international, have picked up the tender forms to participate in the tender or direct offer.
“There are already 30 companies for the tender for 10 blocks and around 20 companies for the remaining 11 blocks,” Iin said
Director of production and exploration at the Directorate General for oil and gas Novian M. Thaib said around 12 contractors revealed that they were serious in their bids for the 10 oil and gas blocks.
According to the Bisnis records, the 10 oil gas blocks which are going to be tendered are Lhokseumawe, Ujung Kulon, North East Madura III, IV and V, Rote I and II (East Nusa Tenggara), Babar and Selaru in Southeast Maluku and Manokwari in Papua.
The 11 blocks, which are going to be offered directly, are located in South Sumatra, East Kalimantan, and Makassar Strait. (*)
