$500 million gas domestic gas deals signed

State oil and gas company PT Pertamina and PT Medco Energi Internasional on Tuesday signed contracts worth more than US$500 million to supply gas to power plants, petrochemical and industry.

Pertamina will supply 63 trillion British thermal unit (TBTU) of gas from Glagah Kambuna TAC offshore North Sumatra to state electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) for eight years starting 2009. The deal is worth $290 million. Pertamina will also supply 23 TBTU or 12 BBTUD of gas from Glagah Kambuna to North Sumatra industrial user PT.Pertiwi Nusantara Resources in a deal worth US$138 million.

Pertamina will also supply 22 TBTU or 30 BBTUD of gas to PLN?s Muara Tawar power plant in Bekasi, West Java for 2 years starting 2008 in a deal worth about $100 million.

Medco will supply 13.62 TBTU or 15 BBTUD of gas from Tarakan block to East Kalimantan?s Bunyu Methanol plant for 3 years starting this year. (alex)
