54 companies are bidding for Muara Tawar power plant

At least 54 local and foreign companies are taking part in the ongoing tender for the construction of Muara Tawar gas power plant which will be built as part of state-owned electricity company PLN?s priority program to cope with the shortage of electricity supply in Java and Bali, Bisnis Indonesia daily reported on Wednesday.

PLN?s corporate secretary Muljo Adji Ag, said in Jakarta on Tuesday that companies which bought the application documents during the opening of the tender last week included PT Siemens Indoensia, Mitsui & Co. Ltd, PT Mitsubishi Corporation, PT Tripatra Engineers and Contractors, Sumitomo Corporation, PT Marubeni Indonesia.

The bidders of the gas power plant, which will have a capacity of 6 X 100 MW and will be built with an investment of about US$400 million, also include Samsung Corp Engeneering & Construction, Hyundai Eng & Const. CO, Ltd, PT Adi Karya, Egeneral Electric Int, Inc, PT Hutama Karya and PT Indonesia Power.

Mujo said that the bidders had visited the location of the plant at Taruma Jaya village, Muara Tawar, Bekasi before filling their final bids. "The companies should file their final bids to the auction committee on February 23," he said.

He said that the winners of the project would be appointed on March 31 and the signing of the contract would be carried out on April 15. (*)
