64 proposals for shale gas study submitted

The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry announced it has so far received 64 proposals for joint study on shale gas across the archipelago.
Director General of Oil and Gas Evita H. Legowo said that of the total, 5 joint studies have been completed and 2 others are still underway, according to a statement provided by the Ministry.
Evita said that the government expects shale gas development could emulate the growth of another non-conventional gas venture, coal bed methane (CBM), where in the span of less than 4 years, 54 CBM blocks have been awarded.
Shale gas reserves in Indonesia are estimated to be around 574 tcf, higher than the estimated CBM reserves of 453.3 tcf.
