7 bidders compete in Paiton coal supply tender

PT Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (PJB), a subsidiary of state electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) said there are 7 bidders which have passed pre-qualification to supply 110,000 tonnes per month of coal to its 800 MW Paiton power plant in East Java.

PJB had conducted the project technical/procedural introduction to the bidders last week and it expects to receive bid document from bidders on November 7 at the latest, the official said, adding that the winner will be announced before end of November.

The official said there are possibility that the winner to be more than one bidder.

According to the source, out of the eight potential bidders only seven bidders which had passed the Pre-Qualifications namely PT Mandiri Intiperkasa, PT Tanito Harum, PT Mahakam Sumber Jaya, PT Santan Batubara, consortium of PT Insani Baraperkasa and PT Oktasan and PT Kadya Caraka Mulya (KCM), a coal unit of PT Pamapersada Nusantara (Pama).

Paiton power plant requires 2.6 million tonnes of coal per year with CV of 4,830-5,100 kcal/kg (AR). (denny)
