The Aceh upstream oil and gas authority (BPMA) said it targets to connect a total of 8,000 households in Aceh with the city gas distribution network (Jargas) in the near future.

Acting Head of BPMA Azhari Idris said the gas will be supplied from North Sumatera Offshore (NSO) and North Sumatera B blocks, which are being developed and operated by PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), a subsidiary of state-owned energy company PT Pertamina.

Azhari made the comment when attending the launching of Jargas project at Dewantara sub-district, North Aceh on Tuesday (15/10).

The city gas distribution will be stretched from North Aceh, Lhokseumawe to Aceh Tamiang.

Hadi Fauzi, who was representing PHE NSB and PHE NSO, said the development of city gas distribution network in Aceh has been developed in stages since 2014. In the first phase, as many as 4,001 households were connected and followed by 2,000 households in 2018.

The new pipeline network will add the number of households to be connected with the city gas network in Aceh and the surrounding  areas, Fauzi said.
