Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry has so far received proposal from 82 companies to build smelters designed to increase the value-added of mineral commodities in view of the planned export ban on raw materials starting 2014.
Minister Jero Wacik said mineral mining firms total about 400 and increasing number of them now are submitting the proposal after the recent introduction of Ministerial Regulation No 7/2012 that stipulates prohibition of export and requirement to process or upgrade the mineral and coal commodities to increase their added value.
Under the regulation, all metal?based and non-metal mined mineral ores should be processed to their minimum form of processed product.
