9 firms may invest big in Karimun

Nine companies signed a preliminary agreement on investment commitment with the Karimum administration on Friday, the region?s 13th anniversary, which could lead to multi million dollar worth of investment in the island.
The signing was witnessed by Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Rudi Rubiandini.
The majority of them are companies operating in the oil and gas sector. Included in the list are PT Citra Putra Mandiri (which plans to build an oil refinery), PT Sumatra Karimun Shipyard (planned commitment at US$30 million), PT Soma Daya Utama (which plans to build a power plant worth Rp855 billion) and PT Saipem Karimun Branch (planned commitment at Rp3.8 trillion).
