Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has identified 150 fuel oil refill stations to be each installed with at least one gas dispenser by 2019.

Director General of Oil and Gas at the ministry IGN Wiratmaja Puja said on Tuesday that the 150 fuel oil refill stations are located in areas where gas infrastructure facilities have already existed.

He said that according to a recent ministerial regulation, the refill stations are required to be installed with gas dispenser to help increase the use of gas among motorists.

He said that fuel refill stations operated by foreign firms such as Shell and Total are not yet included in the 150 list, but their refill stations will also have to eventually be installed with the gas dispenser.

As has been reported, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ignasius Jonan on March 29 signed Ministerial Regulation No 25/2017 which requires all fuel oil refill stations in the country including those operated by foreign firms such as Shell and Total to have at least one gas dispenser.

The new policy is aimed at helping to increase the use of cleaner gas among motorists as part of energy diversification strategy and help achieve the government?s CO2 emission target.
