Abadi Batubara to start production in 2009

A company official told Petromindo.Com on Friday that production at 2009 would be set at 100,000 tonnes and would ramp up to 1.5 million tonnes per annum in the following years.
The official said the mine would enter construction stage by the end of the year, and a vital Environmental Impact Assessment is expected to be approved by Riau provincial government be the end of the year.
The official said the entire coal produced would be used as fuel to the company’s parent proposed power plants. Abadi is a subsidiary of PT Priamanaya Djan International, which is controlled by businessman Djan Faridz. Priamanaya is planning to build a 2x100 MW coal-fired power plant Kayu Agung, South Sumatra on IPP basis.
Abadi, which operates in concession area of 19,000 hectares of land in Kuantan and Indragiri regencies in Riau, is a third generation CCoW holder. The company’s coal production would range from 4,800-5,100KCal/kg. (denny)
