ABK, Jembayan report Q1 coal production increase

East Kalimantan coalminer PT.Anugrah Bara Kaltim said on Monday that its first quarter 2007 production reached 884,000 tonnes, slightly higher than previous year?s same period production of 852,000 tonnes.

General Manager Martusin Yapriadi told Petromindo.Com that sales for the first quarter reached 881,000 tonnes versus 847,000 tonnes.

Production for second quarter is expected to remain flat, Martusin said.

ABK is expected to produce around 3.5 million tonnes of coal this year.

Meanwhile, Martusin also said first quarter production from sister company PT. Jembayan Muarabara (JMB), which also mines for coal in East Kalimantan reached 689,000 tonnes, higher than previous year?s production of 448,000 tonnes.

JMB sold 678,000 tonnes of coal during the quarter, up from 441,000 tonnes sales in last year?s corresponding quarter.

JMB will produce 1.1 million tonnes in the second quarter, 2007 production targeted to reach 3.8 million tonnes.

ABK and JMB export a larger part of their production. (denny)
