ABK, JMB increase Q3 coal output

East Kalimantan coal producer PT Anugerah Bara Kaltim (ABK) Group said its third quarter 2007 sales reached 1.89 million tons, a 28.6 percent increase from 1.35 million tons in the same period of last year.

 

“The group’s cumulative sales as of September this year reached 5.1 million tons,” the company's General Manager Martusin Yapriadi told Petromindo.Com Tuesday.

 

ABK Group operates two mines in East Kalimantan which are respectively operated by PT ABK and PT Jembayan Muarabara (JMB). It exports a larger part of  production.

 

ABK's coal output reached 808,032 tons in third quarter of this year, up from 754,480 tons in the same quarter of last year, while JMB's output reached 1.08 million tons, up from 579,440 tons, Martusin said.

 

JMB plans to boost its coal output to 3.8 million tons in this year or nearly double compared to last year’s output target of around 2.1 million tons.

 

Meanwhile, ABK has targeted to produce 3 million tons of coal this year. In 2006, ABK produced 2.8 million tons of coal. (denny)
