ABK sees stagnant production from E. Kalimantan mine

East Kalimantan coal mining firm PT Anugerah Bara Kaltim (ABK) said on Tuesday production from its mine in 2007 reached 3.37 million tonnes, or higher than 3.2 million tonnes target.

GM Martusin Yapriadi told Petromindo.Com that production in 2008 would remain stable at 3.2-3.3 million tonnes as the mine is already operating at full capacity.

Martusin said that the group?s total coal sales in 2007 reached 7.3 million tonnes, including 3.8 million tonnes from Jembaya Muarabara mine, also located in East Kalimantan, which the company had sold to Singapore-based miner Straits Resources late last year.

The company sells is coal production under long-term contract to South Korean power firm Kosep, Taiwan, Japan and India.

ABK, which consists of three mining licenses (KP), operates in 10,000 hectares of land. He added that exploration programs to increase coal reserves are continuing within the lease.

He also said that the group is continuing to search for new mines to be acquired as it was now loaded with cash from Jembayan sale.(denny)
