East Kalimantan-based coal miner PT Anugerah Bara Kaltim (ABK) is targeting to produce 6 million tonnes of coal this year, up from last year?s production of 5 million tonnes, a company official told Petromindo.Com.
The official said on Tuesday that ABK would produce around 5.2-5.4 million tonnes of coal this year and the remaining will be sourced from ABK?s new coal mining unit PT Gerbang Daya Mandiri (GDM).
GDM, whose mine is located near Samarinda or about 20 kilometers from ABK?s current mine, has started production with 50,000-60,000 tonnes of coal per month, the official said.
ABK has hired mining contractor PT Pamapersada Nusantara (PAMA) to handle most of its mining activities.
The company sells most of its coal under long-term contracts with South Korean power firm Kosep and buyers in Taiwan, Japan and India. (denny)
