IDX-listed coal integrated coal mining firm PT ABM Investama Tbk hopes to be able to start the operation of its own coal port in Aceh in September of this year, Kontan reported on Monday.

The paper quoted Harry Asmar, President Director of PT Reswara Minergi Hartama, a coal subsidiary of ABM, which operates coal mines in Aceh and South Kalimantan, as saying that the operation of its own port would help boost the company?s coal production in Aceh to 3.5-4 million tons per annum.

?God Willing, it (the port) will be ready in September,? he said, adding that the port was developed by its 70 percent owned subsidiary PT Media Djaya Bersama, which has invested US$150 million in the port, which has the capacity to accommodate up to 15 million tons of coal.

Reswara Minergi, which has two coal concessions in Aceh, currently utilizes port operated by state-owned Pelindo II.

Elsewhere, Harry said that Reswara aims to produce 8.5 million tons of coal this year.(*)
