ABMM to build three mini hydropower plants

PT ABM Investama will build three mini hydropower plants within two years as part of the company?s expansion in the electricity business, Kontan reported on Thursday.

Through its subsidiary PT Sumberdaya Sewatama, will build two mini hydropower plants next year, with a capacity of 10 megawatt (MW). The first project to be located in Makassar, South Sulawesi.

?Total investment will reach about US$2 million per megawatt,? the president director of Sumberdaya Sewatama, Hasto Kristiyono, said, adding that the company expected to operate mini hydropower plants with total capacity of 50 MW.

He said that in order to meet the target, Sumberdaya planned to invest about $100 million.

Acccording to Hasto, Sumberdaya would team up with Jaya Dinamika Geohidroenergy to build and operate the mini hydro power plants. The two companies were still discussing their share ownership in the projects, he said. ?We will become a majority shareholder, but the percentage of our share ownership has not been decided,? he added.
