Aceh demands more than 10% PI in NSB block

The Aceh Oil and Gas Supervisory Board (or BPMA) has demanded a more than 10 percent participating interest for Aceh Province in North Sumatra B (NSB) block as part of conditions for PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) to operate and manage the block located in the province, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Thursday.

The paper quoted BPMA Chairman Marzuki Darham as saying that the board has made the PI recommendation to the Aceh provincial administration.

He said that the more than 10 percent PI in the NSB block will be distributed among companies owned by the provincial and regency administrations.

?Probably it (the PI) will be more than 10 percent. That?s what will be discussed again,? Marzuki told the paper.

The central government has transferred the NSB block to PHE, a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina after the contract of ExxonMobil expired in October 2015.

The NSB block started production in 1977, and then reached gas output peak of 3.400 mmscfd. (*)
