At least 50 young people residing near the industrial complex of PT Arun LNG Plant in Lhokseumawe, North Aceh have prevented the LNG producer?s workers from going to work as a protest against the company for not recruiting them in its plant modification projects.
Local newspaper Serambi Indonesia reported on Friday that the young men started preventing the workers from working on Monday after finding out that a subcontractor of PT Arun recruited workers from outside their village to carry the modification works of PT Arun?s plant.
The local residents protested why the contractor hired the people coming from outside the area because they felt they were also qualified to carry out the job. No comments were available from the contractors which include Tuban Jurong and Tuban Teknik. (*)
