Coal giant PT Adaro Indonesia, which has operation in South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan provinces, called on the government to immediately socialize the new regional autonomy law.
Adaro president Graham Robertson was quoted as saying by the Neraca daily that the new regional autonomy law, to be implemented next year, would create a new working mechanism for mining companies.
"Until now we have not yet received direction from the central government on the adjustment of working mechanism for mining companies if the new autonomy law is implemented," Roberson said during a hearing session with the House of Representatives commission VIII on mining and energy on Wednesday.
Robertson said that the socialization was crucial because there has been indication of conflicts between regional administrations on mining resources.
He said that if the new autonomy law provided greater power to regencies, Adaro would be facing greater risk of conflict because its coal reserves, and dumping sites were located in two different regencies. (*)
