Adaro commences first coal shipment to Malaysia?s new power plant

South Kalimantan based coal-mining firm PT Adaro Indonesia this month had begun first shipment of 50,000 tons of coal to Malaysia?s new coal fired power plant run by Tenaga National Berhad, industry source said on Monday.
The source said the shipment was part of the 400,000 tons coal supply commitment Adaro made for this year.
Tenaga?s new 3x700 MW coal fired Jana Manjung which is located in South Lumut in teh state of Perak would begin the first 1 x 700 MW operations in July this year. The operations of the second and the third generators is scheduled to commence in February and August 2003.
Once in full production, the power plant would require some 6 million tons of coal per annum, said the source.
The source said coal supply for Jana Manjung would also come from state coal mining firm PTBA, Arutmin Indonesia and Kideco Jaya Agung. (alex)
