IDX-listed coal giant PT Adaro Energy Tbk is developing a small-scale solar power plant at its Kelanis coal port in South Kalimantan Province, of which the electricity output will only be allocated for internal use.
This was said recently by Adaro Energy President Director Garibaldi Thohir. ?It (the electricity output) will be for own use only. This is just a trial with small capacity,? he said, but did not disclose the capacity of the power plant, nor other details.
He said that in the future the company may expand the development of renewable power plant to produce electricity to be sold to state-owned electricity firm PT PLN as part of diversification of its current power plant business.
Garibaldi said, however, said that the recently introduced new regulation on the tariff framework of renewable power plant projects is not attractive for investors. He added that the government should also provide incentives to help lure more investment into the renewables sector.
