IDX-listed coal mining firm PT Adaro Energy Tbk said Wednesday it has increased the capacity of its Sungai Kelanis port in Central Kalimantan to 70 million tons per annum from 55 million tons.
The port expansion is made to facilitate the increase in the company?s coal production. While it did not give specific timeline, the company earlier said that it planned to increase production to 80 million tons from the projected 50-55 million tons for this year.
Adaro said it has operated the seventh crushing facility at the Sungai Kelanis terminal, which adds capacity by about 11 million tons per year. Elsewhere, the company said it would take a careful approach in expanding the Kelanis port going forward to help preserve cash.
