IDX-listed coal mining company PT Adaro Energy said it was considering acquiring BHP Billiton?s coking coal project in Central and East Kalimantan.
?Adaro is considering (to acquire) several projects including BJP Billiton?s project. However, the evaluation is still at early stage and thus far no deal has been sealed with BHP,? the company said in a statement to IDX on Friday.
BHP, the world?s biggest mining company, scrapped plans to develop the Kalimantan mine because it did not fit its long-term strategy, the company said on June 9.
A number of companies, including IDX-listed giant PT Bumi Resources have expressed interest to acquire the project.
A government official on Thursday said that BHP will find buyer for the project. (alex)
