Adaro fully contracted 2007, 2008

South Kalimantan coal miner PT.Adaro Indonesia said on Monday its coal production had been fully contracted in 2007 and 2008.

"The mine's production is now fully booked," Contract Manager Geoffrey Palmer told Coaltrans Conference participants in Bali.

He added that the mine would be producing 36 million tonnes this year, and would be ramped up to 38 million tonnes next year.

The company sells its coal production to domestic and export markets mainly through long-term contracts.

He also said that the company is currently studying possibility to market its lower ranking coal deposit called Wara for the consumption of proposed domestic power plants that would be designed to lower value coal, and is also studying possibility to upgrade the coal's CV through application of upgrading technology. He hoped that the new brand of coal would enter domestic market in 2010.(alex)
