Adaro, GDF Suez, J Power eyeing C. Java coal-fired IPP project

IDX-listed integrated coal mining giant PT Adaro Energy Tbk said it was teaming up with French firm GDF Suez and Japanese company J Power to bid to develop Pemalang 2,000 MW supercritical coal-fired power plant in Central Java.

Adaro Energy Director Andre J. Mamuaya said on Wednesday that the winner for the power plant developer-which will be developed under Independent Power Producer Scheme ?will likely eb announced by state electricity firm PT PLN (Persero) in October this year.

PLN has short-listed 7 companies which have been declared qualified to compete in the bidding. They are: 1. China Shenhua Energy Company Limited, (2) CNTIC ? Guandong Yudean Consortium, (3) GDF Suez - J Power Consortium, (4) Korea Electric Power Company (KEPCO), (5) Marubeni Corporation, (6) Mitsubishi Corporation, (7) Mitsui-International Power Consortium.
