Adaro introduces new E4900 coal brand, suspends E4700 brand

IDX-listed coal giant PT Adaro Energy Tbk said that it has stopped the production of its E4700 Envirocoal brand, being replaced with a new brand called E4900 from the North Tutupan mine in South Kalimantan.

The E4700 brand was introduced to the market last year. The company said in a quarterly report released Tuesday that the new E4900 coal brand has received good market response in China, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, and Indonesia.

The sales volume of the E4900 brand accounted for more than 50 percent of the total sales in the first quarter of this year, it added.

Adaro said that it has contracted its entire coal production target for this year, and has completed price negotiation for much of the output. Adaro plans to sell 18 million tons coal of the E5000 brand (Tutupan and Paringin coal), 29 -31 million tons of the E4900 brand, and 7 million tons of the E4000 brand (Wara coal) this year.
