Adaro, Kideco supply to Paiton Energy

Independent power producer (IPP) PT Paiton Energy, the operator of Paiton 7 and 8 units with combined capacity of 1,230 MW consumes about 4 million tonnes of coal per year, the company?s official told Petromindo.Com.

The company has secured long-term contract with PT Adaro Indonesia to meet around 70-80% of its coal needs every year. The remaining 20-30% of the coal needs is fullfilled by PT Kideco Jaya Agung, the official said.

?We don?t need any (new) coal suppliers to feed our power plant,? the official said without giving further details.

The firm is currently expanding its business by developing the 1 x 815 MW Paiton 3 supercritical coal-fired power plant, which is expected to start operations in early 2012.

The company has also appointed Adaro and Kideco to supply the new power plant with 3 million tonnes of coal per annum under long-term contract with price negotiable annually. (denny)
