A consortium led by coal firm PT. Adaro Energy Tbk. has secured the contract to build a 2X100 Megawatt (MW) mine-mouth coal-fired power plant in South Kalimantan from the state utility PT PLN.
?The winner of the tender for 2X100 MW mine mouth coal-fired power plant in South Kalimantan is the consortium led by Adaro. It has been decided. We only wait for its formal announcement,? PLN Construction Director Nasri Sebayang told Petromindo.com in Jakarta on Thursday.
Previously, Adaro's Director, Andrew J. Mamuaya said that Adaro teamed up with East West Power of South Korea in bidding for the power plant project. Adaro holds 65 percent interest in the consortium and the balance is held by East West Power.
In the first tender process, Adaro was the only company that submitted a bid, therefore PLN decided to retender the project.
