South Kalimantan based coal miner PT Adaro Indonesia might miss this year?s production target of 18 million tons following two-week workers strike that hit its main contractor PT Pama Persada Nusantara.
The strike ended Saturday and subsequently Adaro resumed normal production of some 60,000 tons per day.
?We have lost some 600,000 tons of production during the strike, which is an opportunity loss for us and for the government? Priyadi, the company?s administration manager told Petromindo.com Monday.
During the strike, Adaro only managed to produce 20 to 30 percent of its normal capacity, forcing the company to declare force majeur.
?However, the most damaging effect of the strike is that we see buyers confidence dwindling,? he said.
Until the third quarter of this year, Adaro has produced 13 million tons of coal. It originally planned to produce 5.2 million tons in the fourth quarter of this year.
Adaro is the country's biggest coal producer. (godang/alex)
