ASX listed investment firm Washington H Soul Pattinson and Company Limited said on Wednesday its associate company South Kalimantan based coal-mining firm PT. Adaro Indonesia was on track to produce 21 million tonnes of coal in 2002 calendar year.

?Adaro is maintaining production levels equivalent to 60,000 tonnes per day to meet export and domestic supply commitments of its ultra clean "Envirocoal" product. At this level of production Adaro is on target to produce and sell 21.0 million tonnes in calendar year 2002, quite an achievement considering the design capacity of the infrastructure was 20.0 million tonnes,? said the company in its yearly report to ASX.

During the first half of the year, Adaro had produced 10.5 million tons of coal.

Washington said, nearly all coal produced by Adaro was sold under contract thereby offsetting the adverse impact of low spot market steaming coal prices offered in the market during calendar year 2002.

Adaro is Indonesia?s largest coal producer, exporting 60 percent of its output. (alex)
