Adaro resumes operation Saturday

The strike by the workers of PT Pama Persada Nusantara, the main contractor of Indonesia?s coal mining firm PT Adaro Indonesia, will end on Saturday morning, and this will enable Adaro?s production activities to get back to normal, according to its administration manager Priyadi.

?The force majeure that we declared to our buyers on October 8 will be revoked tomorrow,? Priyadi told Petromindo.com on Friday.

The labor strike, starting on October 6, had cut Adaro?s daily production down to 80 percent. Normally, it produced 60,000 tons of coal per day.

Pama Persada?s workers staged a strike to protest the beating of their labor union chief allegedly done by people paid by the company top management. He had been involved in intensive negotiations with company executives about their working hours.

Adaro, operating coal mines in South Kalimantan, is Indonesia?s largest coal producer with its planned coal production standing at 18 million tons this year. (godang)
