Adaro?s coal production hampered by heavy rain

IDX-listed coal giant PT Adaro Energy Tbk said that coal production in the second quarter (Q2) of this year was hampered by the unusually heavy rainfall in the period.
As a result, the company said in a statement on Thursday that Q2 coal production reached only 13.27 million tons, up slightly from 13.23 million tons in the corresponding period of last year.
?Weather condition in Q2 was marked by unusually higher rainfall,? the company said in the statement.
Adaro said that coal sales in Q2 of this year also slightly declined to 13.24 million tons from 13.66 million tons in the second quarter of last year.
The company said that coal production in the first semester of this year also fell to 25.13 million tons from 25.86 million tons in the same period of last year. But first-half sales this year inched up to 25.27 million tons from 25.13 million tons in the corresponding period of last year.
Adaro said that coal production came from its subsidiaries PT Adaro Indonesia, Balangan, and Adaro MetCoal.
The company said that about 23 percent of the first semester coal production were sold to the domestic market, while the bulk 77 percent went to the export markets.
