IDX-listed coal giant PT Adaro Energy Tbk said that while corporate plans including production target for next year are still being reviewed, it anticipates flat coal production in 2017.
Adaro Head of Corporate Communications, Febriati Nadira said on Monday that despite the recovery in the price of the commodity in recent months, the company is likely to maintain production level next year of about the same as this year?s.
?We tend to have flat (production growth next year),? she said, pointing out that production guidance for this year has been set at 52-54 million tons, about the same as last year?s output of 51.5 million tons.
Nadira said that while the company looks into market opportunities arising following recent price recovery in the price of coal, Adaro will control its production level to help ensure future supply for the domestic market, where more coal-fired power plants are being developed. ?Although coal price is rising, we tend to focus on long-term,? she said.
Mahardika Putranto, Head of Corporate Secretary at Adaro, concurred. He said that coal production for this year is estimated to be around 52 million tons.
