IDX-listed energy firm PT Adaro Energy Tbk has teamed up with Singaporean firm Sembawang Corporation Pty Ltd to bid the 1,600 MW Jawa 1 combined cycle power project in Muara Tawar, Bekasi regency, West Java province.
State owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) (Persero) has scheduled bid submission for the project for July 25. Adaro once asked PLN that they may be allowed to submit bid behind schedule.
?We are ready (to submit the bid on schedule). However, following the revision of Request for Proposal (RFP), we believe we can make a better bid if we are given around one or two weeks of additional time (to prepare the bid),? Adaro?s Corporate Secretary Febrianti Nadira told Petromindo.com.
Tender for Java-1 project was announced by PLN in mid-last year. However, PLN has several times changed the project?s RFP and bid submission schedule
The Jawa-1 project, which is estimated to be worth US$1.8 billion, is one of the most attractive power projects offered by PLN under the 35,000 MW program. Aside from the Adaro-Sembawang consortium, IDX-listed Rukun Raharja Tbk is also interested in the project. The company is teaming up with Japans Mitsubishi Corporation and PT Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (PJB), a subsidiary of PLN. State owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero) also plans to bid for the project in partnership with Japan?s Marubeni Corp and French firm Total & Gas Power. PT Medco Power Generation Indonesia (MPGI), a subsidiary of IDX-listed Medco Energi Internasional, also plans to participate in the tender. The firm initially planned to team up with Japan?s Mitsui Co. Last month, however, MPGI announced that Mitsui has backed down and the firm is now looking for a partner.
