Independent power producer PT Adaro Power has set up a consortium with foreign companies including Kepco, Mitsui and Enel to develop solar power plants in Indonesia.
Adaro Director of Technology, Adrian Lembong said on Thursday the consortium has participated in recent tender held by state-owned electricity firm PT PLN for six packages of solar power plant projects scattered in Sumatra with combined capacity of 168 MW.
He said that the Adaro consortium, which is eying on five project packages with combined capacity of 100 MW, has passed the pre-qualification tender. He added the consortium is currently waiting for further information from PLN.
?We?re still waiting for further information from PLN. We?re optimistic to pass because we?re teaming up with companies with solid experience (in renewable projects),? Adrian said.
Adaro Power is also currently conducting feasibility study over a planned solar power plant project of its parent company IDX-listed coal giant PT Adaro Energy Tbk at the latter?s mine site in Kalimantan. Under the plan, Adaro will in the initial stage develop a 2 MW solar power plant at the mine site with investment of around US$1 million per MW.
