Adraro's External Relations Manager Yulizar Andreansyah said on Friday that the mine-mouth power plant would have a generation capacity of 2 x 30 megawatt.
The paper does not specify the owner of the power plant, while none of Adaro's officials was available to clarify on Saturday.
According to Yulizar, the power plant will be built by PT Makmur Sejahtera on a 100-hectare area near Adaro's Pit Wara mining area in Murungpudak district, Tabalong regency.
The power plant is expected to be completed in 2009 and it will supply electricity to Adaro?s mine, Tabalong and Balangan regencies.
South Kalimantan governor Rudi Arifin has asked mining companies to build their own power plants in order to help cope with the power shortage in the province. (*)
