South Kalimantan coal miner PT Adaro Indonesia, a coal unit of IDX-listed firm PT Adaro Energy Tbk bagged a contract to deliver 280,000 tons of coal to Taiwan?s state-owned Taipower, a company officer said.

Adaro?s operation manager Priyadi told Petromindo.Com on Monday that the coal would be shipped in the September-December period of this year.

Earlier, Reuters reported that Taipower had awarded only four sub-bituminous coal cargoes out of the 17 it was seeking in two recent tenders to Adaro.

Quoting a source, the news agency said Adaro won part of the first tender and would supply 280,000 tons of coal, or four panamax shipments, out of a total 630,000 tons, or 9 shipments, sought by Taipower.

The other tender, which called for 560,000 tons, or 8 panamax shipments, of coal for delivery between October this year to February 2009, was cancelled because all the offers received were above Taipower's budget, the source said. (Godang)
