Adimas Baturaja to start coal production from S. Sumatra mine

South Sumatra coal miner PT Adimas Baturaja Cemerlang will start commercial production of its mine in August with initial production rate 100,000 tonnes to the end of this year.

A company official told Petromindo.Com on Friday that the entire production for this year would be sold to nearby cement producer PT.Semen Baturaja.

Production would be ramped up to 700,000 tonnes in 2008 and 1.4 million tonnes the following year, the official said.

The official said coal produced from the mine would be dedicated to entirely supply domestic market.

The company, which holds third generation coal contract of work, will produce coal with CV ranges from 4,500-5,000 Kcal/kg, the official said.

The company has a concession of 21,000 hectares of land. (denny)
