South Sumatra coal miner PT Adimas Baturaja Cemerlang has started trial production from its mine end of January 2008, with production sent to South Sumatra cement plant.

Project Manager Susilo Dwijantoro told Petromindo.Com on Monday that the company will supply 5,000-10,000 of coal to PT.Semen Baturaja for trial within the next three months.

He also said that coal supply negotiation with Semen Baturaja is underway, adding that the mine will produce coal with CV range of 4,000-5,500 KCAL/kg.

Susilo said the mine will start commercial production late this year or early 2009 wth production to gradually reach 2 million tonnes per year.

He said apart from Semen Baturaja, Adimas is vying to supply coal to IPPs which will build coal-fired power plants in South Sumatra.

Adimas is a subsidiary of PT Priamanaya Djan International, a company controlled by Djan Faridz, which plans to build several power plants around the country.

Adimas, which is a third generation CCOW holder, controls 5 blocks within its concession. The first block to be mined has mineable reserves of 24 million tonnes, he said. (denny)
