East Kalimantan coal miner PT Adimitra Baratama Nusantara said on Friday that around 3 million of the total 5 million tons it targets to produce in 2011 has been contracted.

The company?s director told Petromindo.Com on Friday that the remaining 2 million tons is up for grabs either through long-term or spot contract.

The company is expecting to produce 3 million tons this year. ?We think, we will produce slightly more than 3 million tons,? the official said.

To increase coal production to 5 million next year, the company is in negotiating with coal mine contractors. ?So far, we?re still looking for the best,? the official said.

At the present, the company?s contractors are PT Petrosea and PT. Bangun Karya Pratama Lestari (BKPL). Next year Petrosea will produce around 2.5-3 million tons and BKPL to produce around 1 million tons.

?We?re looking the contractor with capability equal to BKPL as a second layer contractor,? the official added. (denny)
