About 150 employees of PT Adiputra Dewasajaya (ADP), a contractor for state coal miner PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA), staged a protest at the House of Representatives' compound demanding the House to settle conflicts between ADP and Bank Universal.

The spokesman for protesters, Johar, said that they came from Muara Enim in South Sumatra to take their case to the House as he said that the ADP employees had not received their salaries for the past five months because the company's operating funds totaling Rp 15 billion was blocked by Bank Universal.

They demanded that the House settle the conflict between ADP and Bank Universal, and that Bank Universal pay their unpaid salaries for the past five months and return the Rp 15 billion funds to ADP.

The chairman of the House's Commission IX on banking and finance, Faisal Basir said that his party would soon summon the management of Bank Universal and ADP to help settle their problems.

"We don't want this conflict affects the employees," Faisal said.

ADP has taken the case to the court, contesting Bank Universal's unilateral action. But Bank Universal has said that it is ready to face the legal action, arguing that it blocks the funds because ADP is under the bank's debt restructuring program. (*)
