Upstream authority SKK Migas approved on Sept. 10, 2014 the authorization for expenditure (AFE) for China National Oil Offshore Company (CNOOC) SES Ltd. to start drilling the Rama F-03ST well within South East Sumatra block offshore Lampung.

SKK Migas spokesperson Zudaldi Rafdi told Petromindo.com that as the AFE has been approved, CNOOC can now begin procurement activities that may last through next year until the commencement of well drilling.

The South East Sumatra PSC (SES) is located in the shallow water (17-55 m) of the Java Sea in southeast of Sumatra, about 90 km northwest of Jakarta. CNOOC SES Ltd as operator has 65.54 percent interest in the block, while the remaining interest is owned by INPEX (13.07 percent), Pertamina SES (7.48 percent), Saka Energi (8.91 percent), and Risco Energy (5 percent).
