The Attorney General?s Office (AGO) detained late on Monday businessman Edward S. Soeryadjaya following 10-hour questioning in relation to alleged corruption of funds belonging to state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina?s Pension Fund (Dapen), reports said on Tuesday.
Warif Sardono, Director for Prosecution at the AGO Special Crime Office, confirmed that Edward, Director of Ortus Holding, has been detained.
According to reports, the case started in mid-214 when Edward met with then Dapen president director Muhammad Helmi Kamal Lubis, which led to the purchase of shares in IDX-listed upstream company PT Sugih Energy Tbk. by the pension fund company. Ortus was a major shareholder of Sugih.
An audit by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) later revealed that the state has suffered losses in the purchase of the Sugih shares.
Helmi has been previously detained and has been named suspect in the graft case. (*)
