Hong Kong-listed Agritrade Resources Limited said on Monday that the company would complete the construction of coal upgrading project in the last quarter of 2013.

The coal upgrading facility Geo-Coal? technology would aim to process and upgrade coal from PT Senamas Energindo Mineral (SEM) into a higher quality coal with increased calorific value and lower moisture levels.

"The company is working closely with PT Total Sinergy International (TSI), an Indonesian Technology company, on a coal upgrading project that improves the overall quality of SEM?s coal significantly," the company said

The coal upgrading facility will have a processing capacity of 500,000 tons of upgraded SEM coal per annum.

Agritrade Resources Limited is the owner and operator of PT Senamas Energindo Mineral (?SEM?), a 2,000-hectare coal mine at the town of Tamiang Layang, in the Barito Timur Regency, Central Kalimantan.

The company produces its own brand of SEM coal, a sub-bituminous, low-sulphur, low-pollutant thermal coal with calorific value (as received basis) of 3,700 kcal/kg in its raw form.
