AKR starts coal production in Central Kalimantan

PT Aneka Kimia Raya Corporation (AKR), a private fuel distributor, expects to begin coal production at its mine in Central Kalimantan next month, one of the company?s expansion projects, Kontan reported Thursday.
AKR president director Haryanto Adikoesoemo said in Jakarta on Wednesday that the company aquired the coal mine in 2009 but began its development only last year. ?We hope we could begin production next month,? he added.
The development of the coal mine is part of the company?s expansion program in the mining sector. The company has recently raised about Rp 2.2 trillion from the sales of its 68.8 percent stake in Sorini Agro. The funds will be used to finance the expansion program which will also include the construction of new fuel storages. (*)
