AKR, Vopak start operations of Jakarta fuel terminal

The terminal, which is a joint venture between IDX-listed fuel distribution firm PT AKR Corporindo Tbk and Dutch storage firm Royal Vopak, has 250,800 kiloliters capacity at the first stage. The second stage will see expansion of up to 450,000 kiloliters.
The second phase is expected to be completed in 2012.
The terminal is equipped with submarine pipeline and two jetties that can handle tankers with 65,000 DWT plus 8,000 DWT.
At the first stage, JTT has capacity to store 136,000 m3 of diesel oil and 114,000 m3 of high-octane mogas with octane number of 92 and 95.
JTT is in talks with fuel distribution firms such as Petronas, Medco, Pertamina and Royal Dutch/Shell to use the terminal, President Director Mark Noordhoek Hegt said, adding that the Company will soon sign leasing deal with undisclosed company.
JTT has invested up to US$105 million for the facility with current output distribution would stand at 300 trucks per day. Each truck has capacity of 24,000-30,000 liters, he said. (denny)
