Alfa Energi eyes mine mouth power plant project

IDX-listed coal mining company PT Alfa Energi Investama Tbk is planning to develop a 50 MW mine mouth power plant in Anggana District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province.

Aris Munandar, President Director of the East Kalimantan coal firm, told Petromindo.com on Tuesday that the planned project will be developed by its subsidiary PT Alfa Daya Energi.

He said that the company has expressed its plan to the East Kalimantan provincial administration. He added the project is currently still at planning stage.

Aris said that the company this year will focus on getting a partner for the planned project as Alfa does not have any experience in power plant project. If a partner can be secured this year, Alfa hopes to be able to start construction process next year.

Alfa Energi, which operates a more than 2,000-ha concession in East Kalimantan, aims to boost coal production this year to 530,000 tons from 260,000 tons last year.
