Coal mining company PT Alfa Energi has set a lower coal outpout target for next year amid lingering downturn in the global coal market.

The company, which operates coal mines in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, plans to produce only 250,000 tons in 2016, down compared to the estimated 300,000 tons for this year.

?The coal price is still in sluggish mode so we just set the target of 250,000 tons next year,? Director Aris Munandar told Petromindo.com on Tuesday.

Aside from coal getting, the company currently is also carrying out exploration to find out new JORC reserves at the Samarinda concession.

The 2,000-hectare concession has coal with CV of GAR 4,300 kcal/kg. Based on the previous JORC, the concession has about 10 million tons of reserves.
