Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said stated that efforts to resolve thousands of non-clean and clear (non-C&C) IUP mining permits will be completed by May of this year.

Speaking to reporters on Monday following a meeting with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Ministry of Home Affairs, and 21 governors, Sudirman said that currently there are 3,966 mining companies whose IUP mining permits remain under the status of non-C&C.

Non-C&C mining companies refer to miners who don?t have proper mining licenses, have failed to pay financial obligations to the state properly, or whose mining concessions are overlapping with other miners or forest areas.

Sudirman said that IUP mining permits which continue to fail to meet the C&C requirements by May of this year will be revoked. He added that the ministry has issued a regulation granting governors to revoke the non-C&C mining permits.

The ministry has engaged KPK in the coordination and supervision of efforts to clean up the non-C&C mining permits. Sudirman said that coordination efforts to clean up the messy mining permits since last year has resulted in additional non-tax revenue of Rp 10 trillion for the government as miners settled their unpaid financial obligations to the state such as royalty.

Sudirman estimated that an additional Rp 23 trillion of non-tax revenue could be obtained by the government when the remaining 3,966 non-C&C mining permits are settled by May.
