Altus secures transshipment contract extension from ABK

PT Altus Lines Indonesia, a unit of Singapore-based shipping and logistics firm Altus Group said on Tuesday it has secured 3-year transshipment contract extension with East Kalimantan coal miner PT Anugerah Bara Kaltim (ABK) worth US$9 million.

GM Irwan Susanto said the contract extension will be effective in January next year. The company?s Quito Samarinda transshipper will transship ABK?s coal with minimum guaranteed volume of 2 million.

Meanwhile, Irwan also said that the company?s newest transshippers Quito AKM-3 and Quito AKM-5 had thus far shipped 25 shipments of panamaxes with average volume of 60,000 per vessel.

23 shipments came of East Kalimantan miner PT Mandiri Inti Perkasa, he said with Adani and Baramulti Utama shipped one vessel each.

Irwan said the company is still negotiating with coal miners Baramulti and Pipit Mutiara Jaya for transshipment contracts.

Both transshippers, which have combined guaranteed capacity of 20,000 tonnes per day, started operations in February this year in Tarakan water. (denny)
